HEALING FROM TRAUMA
Receiving Trauma Treatment
Many of our clients are coming to the program with some trauma in their history. Body image distortion and the underlying issues of depression and anxiety are frequently linked to traumatic past events in their lives. Emotional, physical or sexual abuses are often co-occurring among our participants. The program is designed to provide a safe environment to explore and deepen our understanding of the impact of these events in the development of the eating disorder and to find new ways to cope with these stresses. By using EMDR and other techniques we seek to help the clients develop new strategies for surviving and thriving from their trauma. We understand the recovery process is difficult and many of our clients continue into outpatient settings to complete the healing.
